I haven’t seen Michael Bay’s Transformers yet for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is that going to the cinema is now a $30 affair. Plus, as excited as I am, I know it could be a disasterpiece. So, I’ll just wait until it hits our $3 theater next month. In the meantime, you can check out Apropos’ on the film here. And please enjoy this wonderful short from McSweeney’s: “A Letter to Optimus Prime From His Geico Auto Insurance Agent.” (Thanks to S Witmer for the link).

has michael bay ever made a film that wasn’t a ridiculous, overblown disaster? i stopped in the middle of “the island.” and that’s a film with ewan mcgregor and scarlet johanson. and i would pretty much be willing to watch a film of her reading a novel, or smoking a cigarette. and i was on a transatlantic flight with nothing else to do but watch the movie. and i still quit watching.

I also believe Michael Bay is slated to direct Aquaman 2, starring Jake Gyllannhaaallll (sp?). In fact, I hear it was Bay’s involvement with the project that caused Aquaman star Vincent Chase to break his contract with the franchise. That, and the involvement of writer Kevin Smith. Also, this all happened on Entourage, which is a TV show in which things occur that do not actually occur in reality. So there’s that.
